This monumental agreement provides graduates from CCAOM the opportunity to pursue further studies in the ever growing field of Health Sciences and completion of prior academic pursuits that took place prior to their diploma program.
CCAOM is the first school of Chinese Medicine to be afforded this recognition. Our commitment to achieving a high level of academics is characterized by programs such as this and the success of our alumni.
The Health Sciences and General Studies degrees are offered through the Open Learning division of Thompson Rivers University. This enables students to pursue their degree while they are working within their new profession of Chinese Medicine. Completion of the degree programs can be self paced and can be done anywhere online access is possible.

Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree
The Bachelor of Health Science degree programs offered through TRU-OL have been designed to:
- Provide academic recognition for advanced-level training in selected health disciplines and specialties.
- Allow working health professionals to broaden their education and enhance their skills, knowledge, career options and academic credentials without having to leave the workforce for an extended period.
- Make advanced studies available to professionals in selected health occupations at a convenient time and place.
Canadian College of Acupunture and Oriental Medicine Programs articulate with the following PLAR credits into the Thompson Rivers University Bachelor of Health Science degree program:
Diploma in Acupuncture
• Maximum of 84 credits
• Remaining credits: 15 Upper Level and 21 Lower Level
Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine
• Maximum of 90 credits
• Remaining credits: 15 Upper Level and 15 Lower Level
Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Diploma
• Maximum of 90 credits
• Remaining credits: 15 Upper Level and 15 Lower Level

This degree program provdes a flexiblestructure, which allows students to create their own program with as much or as little subject specialization as they want. TRU-OL offers a wide range of courses that fulfill degree requirements
Canadian College of Acupunture and Oriental Medicine Programs articulate with the following PLAR credits into the Thompson Rivers University Bachelor of General Studies degree program:
All diploma programs at CCAOM are awarded the maximum of 75 PLAR credits towards the degree in General Studies.
